What is the first creative memory you have?
Well… apparently I was creative even before my memories were established. My mother just LOOOOVES to tell this story about me! I was little enough to still wear a diaper (you can see where this is going) and, during my afternoon nap, I wasn’t very tired. I slowly came down the stairs, holding a handled mirror out in front of me, very carefully balancing “cookies” to offer to her guest. I can only imagine the horror on my poor mother’s face when she saw what I had used to make the “cookies.” I also, in my careful descent down the stairs, left a hand painted mural behind me on the wall. Oh my! The joys of motherhood :)

What or whom began your creative journey on Etsy?
A relative recommended it to me after seeing some of my sewing projects and I was hooked!

How did you come up with your shop name?
Bees have always been so interesting to me, the way they’re so fragile and yet, so mighty. Just like humans, I guess. “We Three” came from one of the happiest times in my life when my first son was born. It was my loving and supportive husband, Ben, my new little Jack and me, we three. We’ve since had our second son, Dexter and we have to have one more to make my shop name relevant! (At least that is what my husband tells me.) So, if we’re lucky, bee number three will be making an appearance next summer or fall!

Describe what creations you have in your shop

Goodies for babies and children. I’m drawn to cold weather clothing and styles. Not the cold weather, just the clothing. There are lots of different hats and jackets but you'll also find bunting, blankets, and a new addition, The Dapper Fox softie.

What insprires you?
Nature and love, especially the bond that exists between parents and their children. It’s bewildering, overwhelming and bittersweet but being a parent has made me happier than I could have ever imagined. And I’ve always been fascinated by nature- so complex and beautiful.

What do you listen to or watch while creating?

If I don’t hear Papa trying to wrangle two little boys upstairs, I’m listening to Van Morrison or Christmas music (I know. It’s too early… but I know you’re secretly thinking of Bing Crosby and wanting to hear some White Christmas; it’s okay. This is a safe place.)

Please share a favorite recipe
I hate cooking. Well, that’s not entirely true. I hate cooking when I (1) don’t have time, (2) don’t have ingredients and/or (3) don’t have any ideas on what to cook. Usually, all three attack me at once! However, a true fall-time staple in our house is spiced apple cider. You need: one gallon of cider, three cinnamon sticks, a tea blotter filled with equal parts whole cloves and whole allspice, ¾ cup sugar. Dump it all in your crockpot on low heat, give it a stir and wait for the delicious aroma to waft through the house! Perfect for get-togethers. Also, when the party's over, put it in the fridge and re-heat in the microwave- instant "Mmmm!"

What is the first creative memory you have?

I suppose that my absolute first creative memory would be playing with my sister when we were little. I don’t remember the specifics of the game, but I do remember enjoying the fun. My first “artistic” memory would be drawing in early elementary school. I loved to draw. I didn’t think I had much talent, but someone did, so I was culled for some special art classes. They were awesome. I remember learning about different painting techniques and working with ceramics and sketching. I loved it all.

What or whom began your creative journey on Etsy?

My son. I’d heard of Etsy and poked around on it and I think I’d even set up a shop (in name, not product) for my costume design stuff. But it wasn’t until I was pregnant with my son that I really thought about doing anything with my Etsy shop, and after he was born, frog loves monkey became my natural focus.

How did you come up with your shop name?

I have a thing for frogs. When my nephew, now six, was little, he signed a lot and, for whatever reason, he always signed “frog” for me instead of my name. (We lived in different states at the time and he had no idea of my frog fascination, so it was kind of funny.) So I was Auntie Frog for a little while. Then, when my son was born, we always seemed to call him Monkey when he was little. So… frog loves monkey. Because nothing has ever been more true.

Describe what creations you have in your shop

My initial tagline for frog loves monkey was “natural, organic, homemade, hand made, fair trade”, with the thought that I would carry a selection of my items and those handmade by others, with all-natural or organic bases. I knew that I wanted to focus on items useful to families - so things for children, parents and their homes. And my past in costume design and construction pretty much guaranteed that we’d be doing clothing. Setting up shop on Etsy meant that I would *not* be selling items made by other people - at least not on that venue - and setting up shop with my mom (which we made official in February of this year) has helped to expand our line more into non-clothing areas. So, we do clothing, primarily for children but for adults as well, all-natural junk-free soaps and body scrubs, baby items like car seat covers and mei tai carriers, Waldorf and Montessori inspired toys like bean bags and play food, quilts and blankets…pretty much anything that we think is cool or useful and fits with the other things that we make. On our dedicated website, we have a little more room to carry things like amber teething necklaces, etc.

What inspires you?

Everything! Seriously. Sometimes Mom and I get ideas when we’re sitting around playing with the kids. Or a fabric seems to scream out what it wants to become. Or a color combination is really intriguing and I can’t let it rest until I make something that incorporates that color scheme.

What do you listen to or watch while creating?

My kids. I work at home, with a four year old and an almost-two year old. So, while I’m sitting at the sewing machine or cutting table, I’m often called on to play a little bit of Lightening McQueen or find myself singing the theme song to “Phinias & Ferb”. On the odd days that my husband takes the kids off and I get to work all by myself, I’m often tempted to put on some really loud music (and occasionally do), but I generally just sit here in the quiet, listening to the birds and the sewing machine.

Please share a favorite recipe

Banana bread! I’ve been using this one for years and it’s never failed me.

2 cups flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup sugar
1 egg
5 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup butter
3 soft bananas

Mash bananas. In large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add milk, softened butter and bananas. Still until well mixed.

Pour into greased and floured bread pan and cook at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done.

Simple, and *super* yummy. And easy to adjust for allergies or preferences. We’ve done different things with flour and it’s always turned out well.

What is your first creative memory?

 I can remember doing art back in grade school. We made valentine cards and our box for placing them in.

There was also someone back in my 1st & 2nd grade class that use to draw all the time. He was awesome, and I always thought it would be great to become an artist someday. His name was Steve Roubideaux and he was an american indian. My love for art strted at a very early age and I have done many things over the years.

What or whom began your journey on Etsy?

I head about etsy through another vendor I met and decided to try it out. I like to look at other peoples work. I also love promoting things when I can. I am also a team captain for Artismypassion.

How did you come up with your shop name?

When I started adding my jewelry creations besides my artwork and photography. It fits me perfectly and what my shop stands for.

Describe what creations you have in your shop

I offer art, jewelry photography in my etsy. store.
I offer both originals and prints along with my sublimation tiles of my artwork. Soon I will be expanding my jewelry line. I also do orders by commission requests.

What inspires you?

I love being creative. I am always very observant with my surroundings. I love nature, landscapes, waterscapes, sunsets, sunrises, animals. etc.
I also see models that I really like their hair. I also love vibrant colors. It gives me lots of inspiration.

What do you listen to or watch while creating?

I like to listen to the radio. I also like my peace & quiet where I am just concentrating on my creations. Time is something I have learned thatit is very valuable to me. Sonmeday when I retire I would like to open up a gift shop and gallery.

Please share a favorite recipe

(5 minute salad)

1 can cherry pie filling
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 can crushed pineapple
8-12 oz cool whip

Empty cherry pie filling into a large bowl.
Add can sweetened condensed milk.
Drain juice from crushed pineapple and pour into bowl.
Add container of cool whip.
Mix all together.
You can add some marshmallows if you like. I leave them out since it is not necessary.
Let cool in refrigerator. Serve. It is awesome.

How did you come up with your shop name?


Our name, “Stella and Lori”, represents the names of our grandmothers. They both, grew up in Europe, moved to Israel, and lived in Tel Aviv, bringing with them the European touch of style and chic.

 Our creations are handmade leather goods (mostly bags and wallets) that made of high-quality raw material, superior stitching and professional craftsmanship.

We preserve the leather individuality, as a result – each product is unique and exceptional. Each item has its character exactly like people and is tailor made to fit your needs and style. Our products enable you to express who you are through the color and design you choose.


What insprires you?


Our grandmothers inspires us undoubtedly. They both loved and appreciated fashion and knew to use it as a tool to express themselves and to strengthen women and femininity.

Tribal Print Wallet

Peanut butter cookies (very simple and delicious)

ingredients:
1 egg
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup peanut butter

Step 1:
Mix it all together.

Step 2:
Shape dough into balls.

Step 3:
Heat oven to 356ºF.

step 4:
Bake 9 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown.

What is the first creative memory you have?

Iv'e always wanted a Trapper Keeper and my parents would never buy one for me. I had to make my own out of cardboard, paper and masking tape. I think it had a hippo or something drawn on the front in crayon.

What or whom began your creative journey on Etsy?

When I first heard of Etsy I instantly knew I wanted to sell here. There are so many possibilities because of access to an entire world of people. I first tried selling jewelry- none sold. After a few years I started making purses. I was really getting into it and started getting hearts and favorites, but once again... none sold. And I figured they were much more work than it was worth. Now I make animals and I love it. 

How did you come up with your shop name?

It's my name. I'm not very creative at coming up with names. My husband was given the wonderful gift of coming up with nicknames on a dime but it is A LOT of work for me to come up with something I can feel good about.

Describe what creations you have in your shop


My shop is filled with colorful felt animals and monsters. All made by me, all hand embroidered. I started making some cat brooches too.

My two boys and my super funny husband inspire me at the moment. They are funny and come up with all sorts of crazy ideas and sometimes that triggers an idea.

What do you listen to or watch while creating?


If I'm not listening to the radio, which is usually just backround noise, it's my two boys wrestling, yelling or screaming. When I embroider, I love watching all the great auction shows like Storage Wars and American Pickers. Mike Wolfe is super hot- I could watch him all day.

What is the first creative memory you have?

My first creation was a rose. I like flower so I tried to create a rose to make a ring for my daughter. I watched YOU TUBE..:)

What or whom began your creative journey on Etsy?

My Craft story began when my daughter had summer holiday, and look for something to do for her summer holiday. I found Polymer Clay, but I don't know about What is that Polymer Clay and what to do with it. So I was googling a lot , went to library, bought a book, magazine and take online course. Anyway.. we did fun with Polymer clay, but when my daughter went back to school. I couldn't stop to play with Polymer Clay, it became my addiction. So I made some of flowers for Jewelry. I found Etsy from Internet , and I saw many people so creative and selling their stuff on Etsy. since I have been practicing and made some of works ( I couldn't wear all my creation for myself) so on November 2011, I started selling in Etsy. I was a buyer though.

How did you come up with your shop name?

Dia Szabo Design, Dia was taken from Hardia, it is just a nick name. Szabo is my husband's family name. I just want use a name that easy to remember since I have Foreign name, so It is not easy to pronounce .

Describe what creations you have in your shop

Most my creations are sculpting flower using Polymer Clay. I made Jewelry , Accessories, and Custom Wedding. Currently I am working on Air dry Clay with high quality clay that I will use for wedding stuff such as Flower Bouquet, Boutonniere, Hair accessories. I am working on it, may be 3-4 months later I will be able to sell on Etsy.

What insprires you?

Most my Inspiration come from my Balcony Garden and my house plants. I love plants , and flower .



What do you listen to or watch while creating?

Do you mean while I am doing my works?? Listening radio, while watching TV...:)

I do not have recipe. The only thing I can share is . Do a job that you love and believe that you will success!!!

What is your first creative memory?

My first creative memory is of bedtimes snuggled under the blankets at around the age of 4 with my prized container of colourful beads of every shape and size. I'd string necklaces and bracelets till I practically fell asleep on the job, then I'd pull them all apart and start again!

What or whom began your creative journey on Etsy?

I first discovered gorgeous personalised jewellery last year after seeing a TV celebrity wearing a piece, and ordered a necklace with my children's names on it for Christmas. On receiving it I fell in love and knew immediately that I wanted to make similar jewellery and share it with others.

How did you come up with your shop name?

The shop name Poppy Drops came about because I wanted a name that's fun, but most of all easy to remember. Poppy Designs was unavailable, so Poppy Drops it is.

Describe the creations in your shop

My shop is filled with personalised stamped jewellery and accessories. I began with sterling silver pendant designs but have since introduced many other items. These include: bracelets, men's and children's jewellery, bookmarks, keyrings, and pet tags. Some of my items also cater for communion, new mum and cancer awareness. More recently I've been experimenting with different metals, silk and leather. More designs are in the pipeline so stay tuned!

What inspires you?

What inspires me? Well, I appreciate simple, clean lines, which you'll see in some of my pieces where the stamping is the star attraction. I love the beauty of nature, and like to use silver bird and beach inspired charms in my work, as well as gorgeous green beads and peridot Swarovski crystals. But most of all, I design pieces we can all enjoy wearing every day, lovely reminders of the people, places and times that are so special to each of us.



What do you listen to or watch while creating?

My working space overlooks gorgeous views of our local lake and mountains, and I feel fortunate to have such a great spot to enjoy my coffee and stamp to my heart's content.

My favourite recipe is carrot cake. I've tried a few recipes and loved them all, and I think it has to do with the scrumptious cream cheese frosting that always tops them.

What is your first creative memory?

When I was just a young kid of maybe 9 or 10, I remember having an obsession of drawing horses. I guess it came about when my dad purchased to mares for my mother and he to ride. The creative desire then continued when I joined 4-H. I learned to sew there and also from my mother who could sew or make anything almost without a pattern. I guess I got some of her good creative genes and some from my dad.. MyHe was a farmer and was able to weld anything to create something he needed or to fix machinery. On a farm, you learn to be resourceful.

What or whom started your creative journey on Etsy?

Several years ago, I just stumbled onto Etsy. I had been selling my crafts for at least 25 years and thought Etsy was are pretty neat way to get your stuff out there for a lot more people to see without a high cost. I had just begun to make my canvas candle mats which I began because I had leftover canvas from my floorcloths I was making for my home. The candle mats seemed to be a good way to make some money out of the leftovers. I was raised to waste not- want not.The mats were easy to ship, and lo and behold they sold pretty easily when listed in the shop. I got several special orders and several repeat customers. It was about that time that we decided to start a home show here in addition to our other shows. I didn't list for quite some time since I really needed a lot of inventory to do a home show. ( I have to mention that I had two children and a full time teaching job for 33 years so I had many irons in the fire,)

How did you come up with your shop name?

My Etsy shop from the beginning was just called Cherylweaver. I wasn't too creative with that. I never really thought about having a name till a few years ago. I had always sold only handpainted items, but recently, with the help of a good friend, I began making some prints of my work. Now, since I wasn't painting everything, I began calling myself Handmade by Cheryl. I had a website for awhile by that name, but I had little traffic, and finally gave it up. When I started up my Etsy again, I added Handmade by Cheryl to the original Cheryl Weaver.

Describe what creations you have in your shop

My shop includes mostly handpainted canvas candle mats which are made in the same way as the old time floorcloths. I also have other handpainted items which vary with the season. There are laser prints of my work and a few other popular sayings are laser prints. These can be framed or decoupaged.

What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from what I see as popular at the time. For a long time I used other people's patterns. It was when I saw others painting some of the same designs that I had chosen that I decided that I would start drawing and creating my own designs. That is when I began to see my style developing. When others started to tell me how much they loved my style, I finally realized that I had one. LOL! I keep an eye on what the current trends are and what seems to be sellling well for me, and since I repurpose a lot of things, they speak to me as to what they need to come back to life.

What do you watch or listen to while you are creating?

While I am working, I usually have noise in the background. It could be the TV or a cd. I enjoy movies and don't mind watching them more than once which is good because sometimes I become so engrossed in what I am doing that I don't pay attention to the movie. I have two dogs who love going out to play ball so I get a lot of breaks during good weather.

Please share a favorite recipe

As for favorite recipes, one of my favorite is my altered version of The Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook's Applesauce Cake. It is a little healthier than the original one.

Apple Cake
1/2 cup light olive oil
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
1 and 1/2 tsps. of baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 and 1/ 2 tsp of cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
14 tsp ground allspice
2 cups of finely chopped apples with the peeling
1//2 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts

Mix the olive oil, brown sugar, and eggs well, then add the chopped apples, raisins, and nuts, mixing well after each is added.
Mix the dry ingredients and add that next to the wet mixture. Stir till all dry ingredients are mixed thoroughly.

Spoon the mixture into a 9 by 13 pan that has been oiled.

Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees or till a toothpick comes out dry.

I sometimes add a drizzle of white icing made with powdered sugar if I am having company. This cake is better the second day.

Watching films and cross stitching with my mum when I was a little girl.

What or whom began your creative journey on Etsy?

My biggest inspiration has to be my mum, she’s always supporting me and keeps me going, she suggested I started to sell my work back in 2009 then I came across Etsy and that’s where it began!

How did you come up with your shop name?

At the time I set up my shop, I had another hobby – bird watching and obsessing over my new SLR camera, I used to go and take hundreds of photos of birds at nature reserves, which is where the ‘bird’ came from and the ‘loopy’ refers to the loops made by the stitches when I am sewing, crocheting and knitting.  Also the Loopy part of my name describes my personality - forgot to mention that!

Describe what creations you have in your shop

I sell handmade hair accessories using bright and colourful fabrics and buttons, I also crochet flower headbands and brooches. But in the future you may see something very different from me!

What inspires you?

Anything bright and colourful, I have taken to using Pinterest for inspiration.

What do you listen to or watch while creating?

Harry Potter! They put me in the zone, and once I start, I cannot stop!

It involves a good Yorkshire Tea Bag, 1 teaspoon of sugar, some boiling water and a little semi-skimmed milk! Yes, a good cuppa! - My all time favourite recipe!

What is the first creative memory you have?

My first creative endeavor as child was writing. I loved to create crazy stories. I remember making a book of stories for my mom as a gift one time. I'm pretty sure she still has it!

What or whom began your creative journey on Etsy?

I started making and selling wraps on Ebay, before there was an Etsy. I was so excited when I discovered such a comfortable and cute way to wear my baby that I just had to share it! When I wanted to step up my business a bit, Etsy was the natural step.

How did you come up with your shop name?

My business began with just the wrap style baby carriers - That's A Wrap! was just a cutesy name I came up with on a whim. I guess it just stuck!



Describe what creations you have in your shop

My business has really grown in the past few months and morphed in to a "Natural Family" boutique of sorts. I make wrap style and mei tai baby carriers, wool and wood teething toys, amber teething necklaces and beeswax wood polish. And you can usually count on a few other items thrown in the mix! I love trying out new mediums, so you can never be too sure what you might find.



What inspires you?

Definitely my children. There are five of them! They are great and they love to see me create and help me come up with new ideas.

What do you listen to or watch while creating?

Usually kids playing. If I really need time to work, my husband will take the kids out to the park or something - then I relish the silence!

Please share a favorite recipe

My youngest daughter turned two today and we had people over for a cookout. The bean salad I made was a hit, so it's the perfect recipe to share here!
1 can black beans
1 can garbanzo beans
1 can kidney beans
3/4 C. each - apple cider vinegar, sugar, and olive oil
3/4 t dry mustard
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 t basil
Drain and rinse the beans, put in a bowl.
In a separate bowl, mix the dressing. Pour dressing over the beans and toss. Chill salad for an hour before serving.

What is the first creative memory you have?

I remember when i was very little, I think around 5 years old, I would draw pictures with crayons and right next to me my Grandpa would be doing an oil painting of me. My mom still has that painting of me. My grandpa passed on a long time ago.

What or whom began your creative journey on Etsy?

A co-worker told me about the site and we both ended up opening shops on Etsy.

How did you come up with your shop name?

My hobby is building electronic art + I'm a girl = ElectronicGirl. Pretty much self-explanatory. :)



Describe what creations you have in your shop?

My most popular items are def the GlowHearts and GlowPixels. However, I do make small figurines of obscure animations too.

What inspirers you?

Really, it could be anything. The color of a flower..the motion the wind makes..how the sun hits something or some concept will just pop into my head. Just never know.

What do you listen to or watch while creating?

I listen to random things on Pandora or have a movie playing in the background.

A super easy and light weight meal I make for myself alot is this:

tortellini
raw shrimp
fresh basil
zucchini
red pepper
garlic
olive oil
lemon
salt/pepper
cherry tomatoes, cut in half



-heat pot of water to boil. add tortellini. cook as directed
-sauté in pan: oil, salt/pep, garlic, zucchini, red pepper. when the zucchini is half cooked add shrimp & juice of lemon to taste.
-when shrimp is cooked. turn off heat. add fresh basil, tomatoes, drained tortellini. toss together. add a little parmesan cheese & serve.
yum!
